Get Involved

LDG does not happen on its own. It runs on volunteers, and giving back is part of the culture we hope you carry.

Whether you are in a cohort now, an alumnus, or just part of the community, there is a place for you here. Most of it takes only a little time, and all of it helps keep the mentoring program and LDG strong.

Volunteer

Many hands keep this going, and most roles ask only a few minutes of you. Helping run an LDG program, lending a hand at an event, or taking a small shift all make a real difference. You can also volunteer with LDG directly.

We also encourage you to get involved with the wider community, including groups like The 15 Association, ONYX Northwest, and the others listed under community organizations. It is worth knowing that volunteering will sometimes get you into play parties for free.

Help at our fundraisers

A handful of events do a lot of the work of keeping the mentoring program running. Helping at any of them is one of the most direct ways to support it:

The clothing checks in particular are major fundraisers, and they are a big part of what keeps the mentor program going year to year.

Contribute financially

If you have the means, we always welcome financial donations. Meeting spaces are expensive, and contributions go a long way toward keeping the program on solid ground. If you, or someone you know, would like to contribute, reach out to program leadership or the LDG Board.

None of this is ever a condition of taking part. The program is free, and no one is turned away for lack of funds.

Refer people

Word of mouth is what keeps this community vibrant. If you know someone who would be a good fit for a role, a cohort, or a contribution, point them our way. Anyone you can refer, for any position, helps, and referrals are one of the most valuable things you can offer.

Consider leadership

We hope you will think about stepping into a leadership role, with LDG or with another group. Board and committee commitments are usually lighter and more fun than people expect, and fresh energy is how the community keeps growing. We would love your new ideas for making things better. If you are curious, reach out and we will talk you through what is involved.
